We built an app that lets you buy, swap, receive, and send Bitcoin — via Lightning or on-chain.
Right now, the app is available for iOS through TestFlight.
The Setup does not require a long registration process and works like most Bitcoin/Lightning wallets: the app automatically creates a wallet for you and shows you your seed phrase.
You can buy Bitcoin directly in the app by entering your IBAN and email address. After that, you will receive the bank transfer details for your Bitcoin purchase.

Up to 999 CHF/EUR per 30 days, no verification is required, so you can complete your first purchase in just a few minutes.
As soon as your transfer arrives, Bittr opens a Lightning channel to your Lightning node, which runs directly inside the app. With a transfer of 100 CHF/EUR, the channel capacity is ~1,000 CHF/EUR worth of satoshis.
For opening (and potentially closing) the channel, and for providing the capacity, a one-time fee of 10,000 sats is charged.
For larger purchases (e.g., 500 CHF/EUR), the sats are paid out directly on-chain.
After the first channel is opened, there are no additional fees or costs for Bitcoin purchases besides the normal Bittr fees, and purchases are paid out via Lightning until the channel is full.
The app is not only for buying — it is also a full Bitcoin wallet that lets you receive and send Bitcoin via Lightning and on-chain.
Just go to “Send” or “Receive” and choose between a Lightning invoice or an on-chain invoice.

For swaps between on-chain and Lightning, the app uses Boltz Exchange in the background.
On the home screen, you always see your total balance (on-chain + Lightning). For a more detailed view, simply tap your balance — and you can swap between on-chain and Lightning.

Bittr is self-custodial and open source. When you set up your wallet, you’re the only one who gets the recovery phrase. We don’t have it, and we will never be able to access your wallet.
But what makes a wallet truly self-custodial? You need to be able to verify the code yourself. That’s why we’ve made everything open source, built on LDK and BDK. Check out the source code and see for yourself.
The first version of the Bittr app is already out — and you can help us make it even better.
We are currently testing the app in a Telegram group with users from the community. If you want to join and get early access, just send a short email with your Telegram handle to tim@getbittr.com or message us on social media.
We look forward to hearing from you! 🙌
